PURPOSE OF REPORT:
Gustavson
Associates is pleased to announce the completion of a study of the
sedimentary basins of the Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen) and
the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen). The comprehensive
report has been prepared with two principal objectives in mind:
To provide a current review of the petroleum geology of the basins
in North and South Yemen.
To make a qualitative assessment of their petroleum potential.
Usefulness:
The report is to be used as a guide for the evaluation
and exploration of the Yemen portion of the Arabian Peninsula. Over
the last few years, major discoveries have focused worldwide attention
on the petroleum potential of this area.
General Summary:
Data have been reviewed and compiled and a synopsis
of the geologic history, tectonics, structure and stratigraphy is
presented. Source rock availability and maturation history are examined
in order to assess the hydrocarbon potential of the various individual
basins. The discussion is supported with structure sections and
stratigraphic columns. Composite maps are presented showing location
of wells, fields, structural elements and surface geology.
