Geographical, Mineral Deposit and Mine Production
Data of Bolivia is now available in an easy to use diskette format.
Easily imported to PC-DOS based computers in dBase
IV format.
Includes 624 Mineral Deposit Records with up to 73
different fields of information. Computerized format allows for

Airbrushed map sets also available.
This report is an overview of the geology and petroleum
resource potential of Bolivia. Because of budget and time constraints,
the research for this report has largely utilized published information
sources. Additional unpublished geologic, geochemical and seismic
data has been made available and has been incorporated into the
report where possible. Furthermore, large amounts of unpublished
YPFB and oil company geologic, geochemical and seismic data exist,
but were unavailable for this report. Finally, published YPFB literature
is not generally available in this country.
The first chapter of this report is an overview of
the geopolitical setting of Bolivia. The second chapter contains
a summary of the regional geology and tectonics and the third chapter
is a brief discussion of structure. The stratigraphy of Bolivia
is described in the fourth chapter; the similarity of the stratigraphy
in the Subandean and Altiplano zones is pointed out in this section.
In the fifth chapter, the petroleum geology is discussed.
This section includes overviews of source rocks, time of migration,
reservoirs, seals, traps and seeps. Much of the sixth chapter is
concerned with the exploration and production by YPFB and foreign
operators. It includes a brief discussion of the small oil and moderate
gas reserves discovered in Bolivia. The final chapter sets forth
conclusions and recommendations concerning the oil and gas potential
of Bolivia. The Bibliography includes the principle references utilized
in this study. Geologic, geochemical and geophysical data obtained
for this study are included in Appendix 1. Current news releases
regarding exploration, production and development are contained
in Appendix 2.
